WEST AKRON — Drivers’ heads were turning and neighbors were stopping by last week when a slew of white trailers descended on the lawn of Gibby and Lisa Dannemiller’s Merriman Road home. But the trailers weren’t the sign of out-of-town family members or a major renovation project. Instead, the home is being used as the site for interior shots for “3 Day Test,” Corbin Bernsen’s latest movie project.

Miller said the movie is about a father who is challenged by his survivalist brother to subject his family to a “three-day test” to see if they can survive in their home for three days without modern conveniences such as electricity, water and cable television. The man’s wife and children resist at first, but after a neighbor mistakenly thinks a hostage situation is taking place at the house, resulting in the authorities descending on the house, the family rallies around the idea. “It’s an adventure,” Miller said.

Actor George Newbern, who has appeared in “Father of the Bride,” plays the father, while actress Megyn Price, who was on the TV show “Rules of Engagement,” is his wife. The story takes place during the Christmas season, so when the scenes are filmed in Fairlawn Heights, the neighborhood will be decorated to look like it’s December, Miller said. AKRON, Ohio – Several University of Akron students stopped in their tracks along Grant Street on Monday wondering why a porta-potty was sitting on the hood of a silver Buick. Earlier, a man inside the car had watched in disbelief and yelled as the portable toilet dangled from a crane. It was not a horribly, smelly accident. Instead, it was Hollywood magic — Akron style. The man inside the car was actor George Newbern, and production crews used ropes and real construction workers to place the porta-potty on the vehicle. Read more: here

Superman has stood for “Truth, Justice and the American Way” since his debut in 1938. But just how relevant are the values of the Man of Steel in a modern world filled with terrorists and weapons of mass destruction? That’s the question at the heart of Superman vs. The Elite, the latest entry in the DC Universe line of direct-to-video animated superhero films. Warner Home Video releases the film June 12 on DVD ($19.98) and Blu-ray combo pack ($24.98), but held the world premiere at WonderCon March 16 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif. Friday, March 16th through Sunday, March 18th at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California
FRIDAY, MARCH 16
6:30-8:00 WonderCon Exclusive World Premiere: Superman vs. The Elite Be among the first to see the latest release from the popular series of DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movies when Warner Home Video, Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Animation present the World Premiere of Superman vs. The Elite. In the film, Superman’s effectiveness as a superhero comes into question when a new group of super-powerful crusaders, known as “The Elite,” appear on the scene. As superheroes, the Elite know no bounds and are more than willing to kill, even on a massive scale, to stop villainy — putting them on a collision course with the ever-ethical, preferably nonlethal Man of Steel. The voice cast is led by George Newbern (Father of the Bride), reprising his Justice League/Justice League Unlimited role as Superman, NCIS star Pauley Perrette as Lois Lane, and versatile voice actor Robin Atkin Downes (Batman: Year One, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) as Manchester Black, the leader of The Elite. Award-winning comics writer Joe Kelly has adapted his original story from the heralded Action Comics #775 (“What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way”) into a script directed by Michael Chang (Batman: Brave and the Bold) and executive produced by Bruce Timm (Batman: Year One). See the film, then stay for the panel, where members of the filmmaking team and voice cast will take questions from moderator Gary Miereanu and the audience. Prizes will be awarded, and new details about future DC Universe films will be revealed! Ballroom, Third Level Read more: here

Next DC Animated Feature Due This Summer
TV Guide managed to get the first image of the somewhat stylized art from the cartoon for its article about TV star Pauley Perrette of NCIS fame, who will provide the voice for Lois Lane in the film with George Newbern (Justice League) vocalizing the Man of Steel’s lines. Perrette sees lots of similarities between Superman’s gal-pal and the inked-up forensic scientist Abby that Perrette plays on NCIS, telling TV Guide: “They’re both very smart and confident and really good at their jobs. They’re both really focused. Abby just doesn’t have a Superman.” Read More here
